How Does Microneedling Work? The structure of your skin is built with a matrix of collagen, elastin, and growth factors. As the years progress, our skin gradually tapers off the production of these elements causing visible signs of aging. This is often referred to as volume loss. Through strategic placement of deep-piercing micro-wounds, the skin is triggered to reset this production, flooding the area with new blood vessels and a harvest of growth factors including collagen. Since these micro wounds trigger regrowth, cell turnover is enhanced at a deeper level; therefore this process has also lead to a remarkable reduction in the appearance of scarring for many patients.
