What is PDO Thread Lift?

A PDO thread lift is a more affordable, non-invasive alternative to a typical face lift. It produces the same glowing results without the anguish of going under the knife. Taking then industry by storm due to its ease, brevity, and minimal downtime, the PDO thread lift has quickly become a client favorite and increasingly preferable to the formerly popular facelift surgery.

PDO stands for polydioxanone– a dissolvable material, which is commonly used in surgical sutures. The placement of the threads beneath the surface of the skin stimulates natural collagen production and firms the skin as they are absorbed over the course of six months. In addition to an immediate lifting and firming effect, the resulting increase in production of collagen will reduce the prominence of any fine lines or wrinkles and will encourage a naturally youthful and radiant appearance.

Which areas can be treated with PDO threads?

Neck
Jawline
Under eyes/crow’s feet
Eyebrows
Cheeks
Marionette lines

Who is a good candidate for a non-surgical facelift?

In general, individuals who have unwanted wrinkles or sagging around the face and/or neck area opt for the non-surgical thread facelift. Candidates for facial threading tend to range between 30 to 55 years of age who notice moderate lines or imperfections forming on their skin.

Types of Threads

Although all PDO thread lifts will facilitate the production of collagen in the targeted areas, there are three types of threads that can be used for this procedure. Mono threads produce more subtle results but are the most commonly used for PDO thread lifts. They are smooth threads that result in a less textured and more tightened appearance in areas such as the neck and eye regions. Cog threads tend to provide a more noticeable lifting effect due to the barbs that are attached to the thread itself. Screw threads produce the most drastic results due to the twisted and barbed shape of the threads. Screw threads provide a more voluminous look while also having a lifting and tightening effect.

What are the benefits of PDO thread lifts?

Face threading does not result in a long and hard recovery, but instead allows you to go about your daily tasks and errands. PDO threading is more affordable compared to your traditional facelift without the additional health risks and invasive nature. Thanks to this, PDO threading is referred to as a non-surgical face lift. Although the results from a thread lift aren’t as drastic or as permanent as a regular facelift, you’ll still come out of the procedure feeling and looking younger.

Are there side effects to PDO threading?

It is normal for there to be slight swelling and/or discoloration within 7 days of the procedure. If you want to try and reduce the prominence of these side effects, try sleeping upright or on your back the nights following the PDO threading. Be gentle with the skin on your face and try to minimize any sort of pressure or massaging. You may also feel a bit of tension where the procedure occurred, although this is normal, avoid extravagant or emphasized facial movements. Although one should avoid vigorous exercise, you can still participate in light physical activity and don’t even need to take any time off work!

Thread Lift Procedure

The procedure takes approximately 45 min to 120 minutes and you will be numbed with local anesthesia prior to the facelift. Although pain is not foreseen during the procedure, some discomfort should be expected. It is important to cease the use of any medication that may have a blood-thinning effect at least a week prior to the scheduled service.

How long will a thread lift last?

Substantial results should be noticeable right after the procedure and should keep improving within 1 to 3 months of the procedure. Results usually will last between six to twelve months.

PDO thread lift cost

Depends on the areas treated and the number of threads used, usually between $1000-$5500.
